Where'd You Get Your Funk From? (promo P-funk mix with your host, Sir DZL)

Just the tip of the funky iceberg...a friendly reminder: All you crusty-ass turkeys out there had better high-tail it away. The funk is most definitely here to stay. Zac Hendrix is your deejay and your host is Sir DZL, the knight in funky armor (aka Del The Funky Homosapien). We're fighting to preserve and pass on the real thing, not that deal behind door number 3...The Big Deal. Is it really that big of a deal?

Midnight Hotline Rendezvous (Early 1980's modern soul and funk)

This is a promo mix that I put together in early 2009 that showcases some talented groups of artists that we like and love to groove to from the early 1980's. Some people think that this kind of music is cheesy, but it's really some of the best sound around. I tried to include a couple classics (that aren't TOO played out), but the majority is new to most people that hear it...lots of album cuts and a couple rare ones. The sequel is underway!

Trying to get a little raw one-time. This sort of serves as a declaration of emotionally dynamic and rhythmically centered nastiness; both in general and within this musical framework.

This is just one tune, not a podcast per se, but is otherwise only available on a very limited 7" vinyl single. I thought you might want to hear it. Dedicated to feline people who are nice.

This musical message comes to you from the Insult2Injury crew vaults. This mix was put together in 1999-2000. My friends and I just wanted to let you know you should dub it to the top. Love is the way to go...in stereo. If you have any mixes or podcasts that reside in this neighborhood of irie and crucial, please alert me to their presence. If you like it, please share it!

This was put together a few years ago in order to remind people that there's lots of different kinds of funk tunes that are worthwhile. They don't necessarily have to be mega-rare or a household name in order to float your boat. Why not enjoy these, too? They're mostly about having a good time, which people so often forget to do. There's a lot of work to be done, but while you're driving around or jogging with your ipod or something, please consider funking out. Weyaaalll!!

Oooh! My girl left me like 9 years ago and I was BUMMED and I made this. smiley Now we're homies and everything is cool. There's some nice tunes on this! If you're in love, listen to the first half with your little pumpkin and if you got dumped, just skip to the middle and peep the 'you done did me wrong' songs. "Deeper The Root, Sweeter The Fruit" is better than this one, but I think you'll still dig it.
